
Jazmine, a Philadelphia native was raised and born there. Her mother Pam was a backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was five years old, her father got an appointment as the curator of Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the historical landmark. She was a graduate in 2005 of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was the vocal music instructor. Sullivan started singing as a contralto the children's choir. She then sang after a couple of years, she joined the adult choir. The exposure Sullivan had to secular music was initially minimal "I performed solos at church and someone wanted me to join an evangelical label when I was 11, but I was not ready to do that," she recalls. "Then when McDonald's offered a competition to students in big cities and I was offered the chance to perform 'Accept what God Allows' on It's Showtime at the Apollo and the audience loved it". Stevie Wonder sang her part to celebrate the birthday of her grandson at thirteen. Sullivan was initially signed to Jive Records at the age 15. At the age of 15, she was signed to Jive Records. They recorded her complete album in Jive Records but it didn't get made available for release. Sullivan was later dismissed on the labels. Missy Elliott was the producer for a few tracks that were on their debut album. Of these "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott created was one of Sullivan's top tracks.
